Police Arrest Alfa For Being In Possession Of Human Body Parts In Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command on Monday said it had arrested one Muslim cleric, Alfa Fatai, for allegedly being in possession of human body parts.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Kenneth Nwosu.
According to the statement, the suspect was arrested following a report by one Wahab Ibrahim at Morogbo Police Division in Okokomaiko, Lagos, that his son, Rafiu Suleman had not returned home after work.
On Feb. 16 at about 4.30 p.m., Wahab Ibrahim of No. 22, Aka Road Kemberi in Okokomaiko, reported at Morogbo Police Division that his son, Rafiu Suleman, 41, left his place of work at Apapa but did not reach home.
Ibrahim said that he got information that his son was seen with one Alfa Fatai at about 10 p.m. on Feb. 14 at Magbon Town, Morogbo, the statement said. The statement added that the resident of the said Fatai was visited by police detectives who discovered body parts later identified as those of Suleman.
The residence of the said Alfa at Magbon was visited by detectives from Morogbo Police Station and a search was conducted.
A pair of Blue Jeans identified as the one worn by the victim was found in the nearby bush opposite the house of Alfa Fatai.
The detectives carried out further search and discovered a headless decomposing and mutilated body in a stagnant pond.
The corpse was brought and identified by the victim’s brother, one Yunus Suleman. On close observation of the corpse it was discovered that the private part, two hands and the internal organs have been removed, the statement said.
It said that the corpse had been deposited at a General Hospital morgue for preservation, while the suspect had been arrested for questioning. The case is under investigation at the Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba.
