A group comprising thousands of hunters from the South/East and South/South zones of Nigeria yesterday declared that it is mobilising its members to join their counterparts in the North/East to confront the Boko Haram insurgents in the region.
The group, under the aegis of Association of Animal Hunters of Nigeria (AAHON), said in a statement by the president, Raymond Macaulay in Benin City yesterday, that it would organise a mobilisation rally to sensitise its members and the public on the move.
“We just want to be there, and put this nonsense behind us. As hunters, what hurts one hurts all. We are feeling what they have been feeling. And now, we are going there in our thousands to confront this nonsense.”
It is time for action, time for all Nigerians to join the security agencies to take a stand against insurgency. There is no country that can win insurgency by the military alone. It is the people that stand to defeat terror.”
He appealed to the federal government and other well-meaning Nigerians to assist the hunters with logistics to move to the troubled region.
